Carrie Penny's first love for art began during childhood when her mother would entertain her by drawing "Dagwood and Blondie" some years ago. Drawing and designing were only hobbies at that time and, then she became interested in oil painting. Now, she primarily paints with Acrylic and Water Color. She has won many ribbons which cover the back wall of her closet. Recently won "First Place" for "Best of Show," and two honorable mentions for her art.
Resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan during the summer, and spends six winter months on Cudjoe Key, Florida. She is an avid tennis player, and tours the country on her own motorcycle during the summer, has a wide range of interests in her life.
Self-taught, but attends as many watercolor workshops as possible. Workshops attended have been instructed by noted artists, such as Miles Batts, Don Andrew, Carlton Plummer, Joe Fettinger, Ken Hosner, and Skip Lawrence, to name just a few.
A member of the Lower Keys Artist Network, Florida Keys Art Guild, Key West Art and Historical Society, Southern Michigan Watercolor Society, as well as Artists in Paradise Gallery, where her paintings are now on display.
