Next Event: Monday, October 20, 10 AM, Low Keys Fisheries, 22500 Overseas Hwy, Cudjoe Key

Your artist colleagues have stepped up to the plate by donating their time and energy to bring these cement statues to life! It was hard work - there are 2 base coats, then layers of design paint, then 2 UV coats - all needing to dry for days between each layer. (written by Valerie Preziosi, Save Our Key Deer)

Locations of the statues:

The front lawn of St. Peter Catholic Church in Big Pine Key. a family of FOUR spectacular deer statues painted by artist Susanne Johnson. The church sponsored all four in the hope that motorists would slow down around the dangerous curve for deer on US-1.

The BPK “triangle” grass area by the traffic light. Susann D’Antonio is the artist who painted this very special deer sponsored by the younger sister of a fallen officer, Deputy David Cormier. The deer is named “Reverie.”

The front lawn of the MCSO substation on Cudjoe Key. This handsome buck, “Liberty” was painted by artist Gale Upmal. The sponsors, Alyssa and Glen Mako are dedicating it to our local Law Enforcement Officers.

Outside of the Marketplace at Isla Bella Resort, Marathon.
