Fabric artist, creating art with fabric
Joanne grew up on Long Island and learned to hand sew from her Grandmother who lived next door. She learned to make quilts at High School where she majored in art and business. She enjoyed making quilts and wall hangings to give as gifts. Worked with oil paint and water colors but fabric kept pulling her back. Moving to the Keys in 1999 she started making pictures from fabric using old windows, lobster traps and yard sale finds to frame her work.
Spending the winter months in the Keys and traveling around the USA in an RV the rest of the time she gets to visit many different shops collecting all types of fabric. During the month of October she shows at Harvest and Art Festival at Dollywood, TN. Her work can be found at the Artists in Paradise Gallery, Big Pine Key and Guild Hall Gallery, Key West.
