Nira Tocco designs wearable art made from vintage sterling silver and silver plated flatware, playfully calling her business “What The Fork – silverware with a twist”. She was inspired and mentored by then local artist Carol Joye and continues to be self-taught. Nira, who is now and has been a local Realtor for the past 20 years, finds the process relaxing, therapeutic, challenging and rewarding. There is a certain “thrill of the hunt” involved in finding these turn of the century pieces. Whenever possible, she researches and identifies the maker and pattern, bringing a degree of romance to her upcycling.
