I am one of the original founding members of the Lower Keys Artists Network and Artists in Paradise Gallery where I served as treasurer. We've had a wonderful group of very talented artists through all these years and I'm very proud to be a part of this.

I started out doing only watercolors, then added pastels, some pen and inks, but when I started Scratch art, I just knew that was it. No more other stuff, scratch art was my love. So I'm still scratching away, no sea grapes growing up in N. Florida so I have to do more palms and wildlife pictures.

The process for doing scratch art: you take a board covered with a thin layer of white clay and a coat of black India ink. With an Exacto knife, you scratch off the black ink to reveal the white clay, paint the clay with colored inks, water colors, or acrylic paints, then re-scratch for highlights to your liking. After you are thoroughly satisfied with the piece, you spray it with clear acrylic. Takes quite a long time to do one of these, so be prepared to get discouraged.
